Working in challenging environments has meant that Spirotech has always regarded safety at work as a number one priority.
Health is just as important when it comes to caring for Spirotech’s team of designers, fabricators, installers and admin. The team think so too and the uptake for last week’s CPR & defibrillator training session, delivered by professional medic and Community First Responder David O’Brain, was so popular that further training sessions have been arranged for July.
Trainer David O’Brian explains the importance of being up to date with the correct information.
Sudden cardiac arrest can happen anywhere, at any time, to anyone, regardless of age or health status. When a person has a sudden cardiac arrest, the normal heart rhythm becomes disrupted, which means their heart can’t beat properly and they won’t be able to breathe normally.
For every minute that someone is in cardiac arrest without receiving CPR, and having a defibrillator used on them, their chance of survival decreases by 10%. That’s why it’s so important to act immediately.

CPR helps maintain blood circulation and oxygenates vital organs.A Defibrillator gives a jolt of energy to the heart, which can help restore the heart’s rhythm, and get it beating normally again. This simple piece of equipment is easy to use and doesn’t require training, but it could make the difference between life and death.

David also added:
Spirotech Group Ltd. are making sure that their staff have this know-how by inviting a local ambulance First Responder to show staff how to give CPR and use a defibrillator and they have also installed a Public Defibrillator in their car park for the benefit of the local community.
Russell Gadsby, Spirotech Director said:
We are delighted that our staff act so well together as a team and recognise the importance of being able to deal with sudden CPR emergencies and we welcome more training sessions in the future .
