Spirotech is pleased to announce that one of its factory chargehands, Keith Leonard, has successfully passed the ‘Abrasive Wheels Instructor’ training course, a course designed to develop the skills of abrasive wheel operators to instructor standards according to the schedule of the Abrasive Wheels Regulations.
Keith is a longstanding member of Spirotech’s team with a wealth of knowledge, gained during 30+ years’ experience in the industry, and it was felt that Keith would excel in this instructor based role.
Constant updating of skills
Spirotech is proud of its commitment to continually improving, developing, and implementing all aspects of Spirotech Group`s Health & Safety plan and this achievement means that Keith is now fully qualified to deliver face-to-face Abrasive Wheels training to all employees – helping Spirotech to raise the bar for safety, skill, and confidence across the board. This enhances the current online Abrasive Wheels training that employees must complete, and forms part of the company’s mandatory training.
Key benefits
Key benefits of the course include learning the legal aspects of Abrasive Wheels Regulations relating to training requirements; learning how to inspect an abrasive component before fitting to a machine and identifying abrasive products, with reference to British Standard Marking System for Abrasive Products. An awareness of current Health and Safety Legislation in relation to the use of abrasive wheels, along with an awareness of the need for wearing PPE when using abrasive products is also part of the training.
Spirotech believes that interactive training provides the best learning experience for its employees and therefore felt it was important to introduce this skill amongst the team.
